A masonry wall will be built at the entrance to La Garapacha, a passable ditch, the bus stop will be replaced, and two sections of wooden fence will be installed on the side of the road, among other improvements.
Last July, the different projects that are going to transform the public forests of the municipality through the 15% of the Improvement Fund in compensation for the quarries installed in our municipal area were tendered.
And one of them is the one in La Garapacha, a place where various improvement actions are going to be carried out to restore and transform it.
The purpose of these modifications is to make the area even more attractive and accessible for residents and visitors, as well as making Fortuna a natural reference and active tourism in the Spanish Levante.
Modifications that, in total, add € 700,000, a money that the Improvement Fund itself requires to reinvest in the natural environments of the area.
One of the trails to be restored is the one that starts from La Garapacha square to the peak of La Pila, located at an altitude of 1,266 meters.
And precisely in that summit is going to build a landmark with masonry in the image and likeness of the one found in Puerto Frío.
It is a path that hosts a great diversity of plant formations and has a branch, which goes to Cerro de los Cenajos, with a length of 540 meters.
On the other hand, it is going to proceed to the construction of a path that will link La Garapacha with the surroundings of the Cordel de los Valencianos.
For this, the vegetation existing along the route will be eliminated, manual routing will be carried out to adapt the firm, removing the large stones and forming a stable firm with a minimum width of 1 m.
This project also proposes the creation of a bus stop integrated into the natural environment, thus replacing the current stop, which is deteriorated and breaks the aesthetic of the environment in which it is located.
In addition, it is proposed the installation of 2 sections of wooden fence, on both sides of the road, providing an improvement in the visual of the entrance to the Regional Park and the hamlet of La Garapacha itself, in which this natural spot is located.
Another of the actions to be carried out to complete the landscape integration of the entrance to the Park by the Garapacha, will be to the restoration of the slope, in the existing surface between the end of the wall and the surface occupied by mastic.
