A course at the University of Mar-Campus Mare Nostrum show the properties of water as a therapeutic agent, delving into the use made of the thermal waters at different times in history, as well as newer treatments that are performed in this field .
The Murcia Region is a leader in balneotherapy area with its long tradition in this area due to the existence in them of important medicinal mineral springs, among which are those of Murcia, Fortuna and Alhama.
Doctors, historians, geologists, geographers and specialists in spas will be the presenters of this course, to be held from 19 to 23 September in Alhama de Murcia and led by Louis Shepherd, medical director Archena spa, Gonzalo Matilla, Professor of Ancient History at the University of Murcia and José Baños, director of the Archaeological Los Baños de Alhama de Murcia.
The inaugural conference will focus on "Water in general medicinal mineral waters and their classification" and run by Olga Galán Canelas, medical hydrologist Archena spa.
The activity has a duration of 40 hours, and students are entitled to four free credits.
