The Director General of Tourism, Marina García, today inaugurated the new tourist accommodation in the hamlet's Garapacha in Fortuna, which will provide 26 new places in the municipality.
This property is part of the rehabilitation project of some school houses to turn them into small inns, with the aim of meeting the growing demand for rural places in the region and create a network of accommodation in the northeast of Murcia.
This is the first complete rehabilitation of this project.
Garcia, who was accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism of the City of Fortuna, Miguel Romero, said, "is a success that this inn is open because it will motivate many people to visit this wonderful enclave.
Furthermore, tourism in the Region of Murcia is holding up quite well the crisis, especially because we have a wonderful climate and entrepreneurs who are struggling every day and give everything for their businesses run smoothly. "
The work included within the Tourism Promotion Plan of the Northeast, had a budget of EUR 323,772 funded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Commonwealth Travel Services in the Northeast and Hostemur.
Moreover, in 2008 the Department provided a total of 15,000 euros to equip and endow the tourist accommodation of 13 rooms, one disabled, and all with individual bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, terrace and gardens.
And in the same year the Department allocated a total 40,000 euros for tourist accommodation in the hamlet of Rambla Salada, and in 2009 a total of 84,639.16 euros for the hamlet of Caprés.
