Coinciding with the centenary of the birth of the poet Salvador Pérez Valiente, Fortuna City Council has initiated the file to appoint him adopted son posthumously, to which any person interested in doing so may adhere.

Although born in Murcia, Fortuna considers Pérez Valiente one of his most illustrious sons, since he spent his first years in the town with his family members.

The relation of the poet with the locality was not diluted with the time, because, although it moved to live the capital, where it exerted successfully like poet and journalist;

his work is partly inspired by his childhood in Fortuna.

So it was until his last days, when Pérez Valiente gave away his extensive private collection of books to the consistory.

After the resolution of the mayor's office on December 14 to start the file for the appointment of Salvador Pérez Valiente as Adoptive Son posthumously, on the day of yesterday, January 2, a new and important step was taken for this procedure to be published in the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia (BORM), promoting that any person or group that considers it appropriate can adhere or appear in said file in attention to the work, merits and qualities for which it is worthy of such distinction with a period of 15 days

For this reason, says the mayor of the town José Enrique Gil, "as the cultural reference for Fortuna that was always, the City wants to pay tribute, not only naming him adopted son posthumously, but putting his name to the Municipal Library before the great imprint left in our municipality.We are putting value on all the wealth and cultural heritage of Fortuna, and recognize the people who have taken care of the illustration of our municipality is an exercise of much pride.
