Fortuna City Council has opened today a path adapted to people with disabilities in the recreational area of ​​Fuente La Higuera, which is a natural enclave with a famous natural water source, within the limits of the Regional Park of Sierra de la Pila in Fortuna's public mountain.
This shelter of nature, is the destination of many nature lovers, who come to this place to spend the day with family or to start any of the hiking trails that can begin in this place.
As of today, people with reduced mobility will also be able to do it since the Fortuna City Council has carried out comprehensive improvement actions in the recreational area, with a total investment amounting to € 174,770.89 from 15% of the Fund for Improving the use of the Public Mountains.

One of the most emblematic projects of this renovation has been the adaptation to people with disabilities, for which it has been signaled and disposed of places reserved for this group.
From the parking lot there is an adapted path that has a total length of 800 m, allowing people with functional diversity to access all the services offered by this natural enclave.
At a short distance, the construction of a wheelchair-adapted table is planned, with no side seats to allow it to enter.
Continuing with the path, the visitor can enter the mountain, pass by the camping area and cross an elevated bridge that has been built of wood with a slope of less than 6% to allow the enjoyment of nature by people of reduced mobility.
In this section of the trail, a parterre located in its margin has been recreated three natural habitats with collections of native vegetation and representative of the Sierra de la Pila.Among the feet of carrasco pine, silhouettes of native wild animals of the Regional Park, such as the wildcat or the gineta, which are an important attraction for children visiting this place.
The directional beacons that facilitate the route do not go unnoticed, and that incorporate information in the Braille system.
Signaling in general incorporates technical details such as wooden baseboards, handrails and other measures that guarantee the integration of people with disabilities in the full enjoyment of nature
Within the integral management of the recreational area, in addition to the adaptation to people with disabilities, the rest of the improvements have consisted of the arrangement of the terraces, the parking area has been improved, the old barbecues with high fire risk have been eliminated forest, proceeding to the construction of a new barbecue with a spark arrester system and other additional measures to reduce the risk of forest fire, the water tank arrangement has also been carried out and a botanical path has been valued in the Cordel de los Valencianos .
The municipality of Fortuna, in addition to being a regional reference for tourism in Spas, also wants to become a reference for nature tourism.
