The Governing Council authorized the conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment and the City of Fortuna for performances in public forests for an amount of 481,250 euros.
The town of Fortuna has an important set of public forests that are home to large masses of Aleppo pine enriched in shady areas with other tree species such as oak.
They will be carried out actions aimed at the interpretation of natural resources and ethnographical through nature trails elements and improve the interpretive signage, performing in the Visitor Center of the Regional Park of La Pila.
Most of the investments are geared towards improving recreational areas, areas receiving visitors and infrastructure for interpretation and dissemination of natural resources in the mountains of Fortuna, including the prevention of forest fires through preventive silviculture in tree stands.
Many of these mountains are in need of silvicultural treatment, such as thinning and pruning other oriented forest fire prevention work.
With these treatments contributes to the conservation and improvement of forest ecosystems, maintaining its biological potential, while the resistance of the mountains to the spread of fire increases.
